Birdies and worms! It’s an exciting day! ☀️

After a year or so under the radar, exploring what expansive work could look like, I’ve settled on an approach to work that is feeling expansive, energizing, and values-aligned.

To celebrate, I’ve rolled out branding and a website for my new consulting and coaching company: Bloom Collective!

The process to get to this point has been an exciting, iterative experience. At the end of 2021 I left Omaze, where I served as VP of Product and Design. I took three months on sabbatical, and wrote a weekly newsletter during that period for 30 select individuals who I most admire. They followed me through the humbling, bumbling experience of figuring out what’s next. Back then I was burnt out, ungrounded, and feeling a bit lost. I had a cynical view of “work”, and felt like wherever I went next would lack a sense of belonging or values alignment. I didn’t know what my next step looked like at that time, but as I moved forward I found an energizing and impactful vision for work. I share more about this exploratory process in the following two posts, in case you’re interested in diving deeper or you are navigating something similar in your life:

How to Change Industries as a Product Manager
Making a career change can be daunting. It can be exciting. But sometimes it’s simply necessary. This is especially true in the sea of recent layoffs (800%+ increase in 2022). I personally have gone through six major career pivots: As a young adult, I spent five years as a top 40 billboard musician with the rock band Dance Gavin Dance…

How to Start Product Consulting
After 13 years working in various tech product management roles, I took a leap to build my own consulting and coaching business. Throughout the last year of owning my own business, people have continued to express interest in doing the same. The increased interest, coupled with massive tech layoffs this year …

After slowing down, getting still, reflecting on who I am and what I wanted to create, and then experimenting and creating with some amazing clients over the past year, I’ve settled on a draft at Bloom Collective’s Mission, Vision, and Strategy.

My aim is to share my strategic thinking as a means of celebrating my journey, creating publicly, and entering into what’s next. An act of planting a flag with raised triumphant arms.

Mission

Why does Bloom Collective exist? What am I trying to achieve? What do I see as its purpose?

Bloom Collective’s mission is to help product leaders and tech executives bring their products to market, while also supporting the individual in living a more peaceful, connected, and self-aware life.

My mission in founding Bloom Collective is to create a community of conscious, passionate beings who are prolifically & positively impacting the nature of the world.

A fundamental hypothesis within this mission is that positively impacting the nature of the world requires both a strong product strategy & execution, and an exceptional mindset.

Vision

When Bloom Collective has made its mark we will be living in a world where conscious leadership and expansive mindsets are a broader norm. What do these terms mean?

  • Conscious Leadership: A present, mindful approach to leadership that is rich with self-awareness, curiosity, and evergreen learning.

  • Expansive Mindset: An unrestricted, magnificent state of being that allows for a consistently widened opportunity space.

Bloom Collective’s vision is to create and foster conscious leadership and expansive mindsets with the clients we support, the products we build, and within the communities we cultivate.

Strategy

A critical aspect of Bloom Collective’s strategy is to embrace the natural disposition of Dualities. Duality comes in two critical forms:

The Duality of Support (Strategy, Coaching)

We support clients and our community through product strategy and mindset coaching. These two are intimately connected and are what make Bloom Collective’s mission and vision unique. We are founded on the understanding that early novel products not only require a stellar product strategy, they also require exceptional mindsets amongst their leaders in order to achieve unrestricted, outsized outcomes.

The Duality of Connection (Clients, Community)

To maximize Bloom Collective’s impact on the world we aim to support not only our paying clients, but also the broader community of entrepreneurs, executives, product managers, and like-minded beings who are also on the journey of conscious leadership and expansive mindsets. Our ripple effect is teaching each of you how to embrace these norms, and then you using that to make the next courageous mark on the blank canvas of your future.

This theme of duality is why our logo is the way it is.

Inspired by a binary star, it represents the Duality of Support and the Duality of Connection.

To scale the impact Bloom Collective can have on the world, there are five strategic areas of investment:

  1. Build a consulting business, focused on product strategy and discovery, that creates outsized impact in three core areas: The Arts, The Environment, and The Mind.

  2. Leverage consulting relationships to build an effective coaching business that shifts executives and leaders into expansive mindsets helping them barrel effectively after unreasonable, world-changing goals.

  3. Bring in values-aligned product leaders, coaches, and subject matter experts to scale Bloom Collective’s impact more broadly.

  4. Support and grow an online community, connected by the pursuits of expansiveness and conscious leadership, via our newsletter. In this medium we are creating more conscious, expansive leaders beyond our core client base.

  5. Offer our client base and subscribers additional ways to engage & expand through retreats, meetups, guest newsletters, and more. Explore new emergent ways to deliver on Bloom Collective’s mission by putting Bloom Collective’s future in the hands of each of you.

In Summary
